I’m JJ, a life-long maker, with a head full of ideas, and a heart that refuses to throw anything away. Why would I, when every cast-off button, scrap of lace, or half-unravelled jumper might just be waiting to shine in a brand-new role?
My love affair with creating began in childhood, under the watchful eye of my wonderful primary school sewing teacher, and my endlessly talented nana (queen of crochet and keeper of biscuits). They planted the seeds of craftiness in me – and I’ve been stitching, looping, and tinkering ever since.
As a teenager, I was the one who never quite stuck to the shop rails. Punk? New Romantic? Big, bold 80s big hair? Yes, please! I’d dive headfirst into the trends, then gleefully hack, stitch, and re-invent them into something unapologetically me.
Taking A-level “Fashion & Fabrics” gave me the technical know-how, but the rulebook never stood a chance – I was already addicted to one-of-a-kind creations. Later, during my B.Ed. (Hons) Degree, majoring in the Arts, that spark was well and truly cemented: I wasn’t just dabbling in craft. I was destined to make things differently.

These days, I’ve circled back to that joyful chaos -revelling in the thrill of turning old into new.
My ‘studio’ in beautiful Derbyshire hums with upcycled wonders: vintage linens reborn as quirky keepsakes, well-worn garments stitched into fresh favourites, yarns twisted into treasures. Each piece has its own personality – sometimes inspired by my surroundings, sometimes by a sudden obsession, and often simply by the charm of the material itself.
